We're not free-to-play either!

While being released the day before American Thanksgiving didn't phase the Europeans all that much, it will be interesting to see how it does here. The Chronicles of Spellborn will be released on the same day, November 27th, in North America.

There was one bit of concern about the announcement though, as acclaim said they would be marketing Spellborn as a "free-to-play" game. This was not received well by the fan base, which prompted the folks behind Spellborn to clear things up a bit.

Hi Spellborn Community,

Today, I'd like to address concerns you guys voiced after the press release from Acclaim.

So first, TCoS is NOT a Free2Play game.

There is indeed a Free2Play ZONE, ie the starting area. We, Devs, are still looking into the extent of said area. That means, that you, players, can test the game for free, and then have to go for a regular subscription to continue playing the game and level up your character. No subscription equals to being stuck in free2play zone.

Second, there are NO item malls, there is NO item selling.

That announcement should effectively put fears of microtransactions to rest.
