Ten Ton Hammer's WAR Guild of the Week 10/27/08- 10/31/08

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is now in full swing and you're having a blast! You've got your Public Quests down, you're questing for the betterment of your chosen faction, and your significant other is wondering what in the hell this "No DPS! HEALS!" chant you keep screaming from the other room is, as you RvR. Yes, life is good in WAR, but you still feel like you're missing something. Playing solo is starting to wear on your experience. What do you need to fix this little problem in an otherwise exceptional game? You, my friend, need a guild. Guilds are an important part of any MMO experience. They provide a sense of commerarderie. They provide a sense of team accomplishment. And most importantly, sometimes they provide off color body function jokes in guild chat that make you laugh so hard, you run straight into a group of order players you didn't see while you were doubled over.

You obviously want to join a group of like minded folks, but how do you make that choice? Easy, you interview them! Ten Ton Hammer realizes the importance of having a good guild to play with and to that end, we present you with our WAR Guild of the Week segment. A feature designed to give you a little insight into the guilds of WAR and help give you a place to start when looking for the right guild for you.

This week we introduce Guardians of Order, an Order guild on the Phoenix Throne server.

Looking for: We're looking for mature, active, loyal members that like to have a good time and view their guild as a family rather than a random group of people.

What kind of guild is Guardians of Order and what are they all about?

Our guild is all about helping each other out and growing as a family instead of a group of individuals. Whether it’s through public quests, assaulting a keep, scenarios, or just random questing, we strive to do it together so no one feels “alone” in such a large world. We also encourage members to be active on Ventrilo so we all get to know each other instead of being a “zerg-guild” of strangers.

What other games have Guardians of Order been involved in and what sort of success have you seen in those games?

Warhammer Online is our guild’s flagship game for what will be a multi-game community.

What are the goals of Guardians of Order in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning?

We strive to be one of the most active, well-known, and influential guilds on the server. We want other Order guilds to respect and admire us, and Destruction guilds to fear us. The guild expects to have our own Keep and be an integral part of Order’s success on Phoenix Throne.

What sort of time commitment are you looking for from members per week? Are there level requirements or restrictions for members?

Part of being a family means understanding that everyone is different and has his/her own play-style. Some members enjoy playing 10+ hours per day, others only play 10 hours a week. As a guild we understand that everyone has different priorities in life: a real life family, school, career, etc. We don’t mandate that someone has to play X number of hours per day or week to be in the guild. We only have two restrictions. The first is that a player must be 18 years of age or older to join. Guardians of Order is a mature guild and we don’t want to risk the drama associated with accepting younger players. The second is that the player has a “believable” character name. We play on a RP server, and there are those within the guild that live for RP and lore. We don’t want to ruin that atmosphere by accepting people with names like “Orckiller.”

Do you require the use of Ventrilo/Teamspeak for your guild members?

At this time, we only require the use of Ventrilo when we RvR as a guild. Not everyone is comfortable speaking in Ventrilo, and we understand that. However, during RvR (PvP combat), we require everyone to at least listen in Ventrilo so they know what targets we’re attacking, etc. No one will EVER be “forced” to talk in Ventrilo however…that’s a personal choice.

What level of importance do you place on the social aspect of your guild? Is Guardians of Order all about the end goal or more about the people involved?

We place a lot of importance on the social aspect of the guild. As mentioned earlier, we want to foster a family-environment where everyone knows each other, not a guild composed of random people working together for a common goal. With that said, we ARE working together towards being one of the most respected guilds on the server…but we want to have fun in the process, and make sure no one gets left out on the journey.

Does Guardians of Order charge Guild dues/taxes? If so, how much and what are they used for?

The guild does not charge any dues, but does have an automated 10% tax on all kills a player makes. The tax does NOT affect money the player receives from selling items, reward money, public quest money, etc….it ONLY affects the money received from killing a MOB or player. Presently, the money that accrues in the guild vault is being used for purchasing guild standards which are used to assault enemy Keeps. In the future, the money will be used for purchasing guild heraldry, upgrading the guild Keep, guild housing, etc.

If someone wanted to join your guild, what would be the best way to do so? Who should they get in contact with and is there an application involved?

To join Guardians of Order, the easiest thing to do is go to the guild website (listed above), register on the forums, and fill out the SHORT application. There are links on the website (www.TheGuardiansOfOrder.com) to get in touch with us, but applicants can also email us with any questions at [email protected]. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes…I promise! =)
