Runeforge

Hello and welcome to the first page of our Horde Northrend Leveling Guide. This page will introduce you to the Borean Tundra and the first area which is the major quest lines running out of Warsong Hold. If you need to learn more about the leveling guide then return to the main page. Otherwise let’s get started!

This page assumes that you’re level 70. If you’re not level 70 then stay in Outland! There are a lot of quests in Outland that give good experience up to and past level 70. There is no really good reason to start Northrend until 70. This guide also assumes that you’re working off a good bit of rested experience as you should. Rested experience is worth a ton at higher levels.

Runeforge

Let’s start! Get thyself to Orgrimmar. Here you’ll want to head west out of the city entrance to find a zeppelin that’ll change the landscape drastically.

Runeforge

The second you get off the zeppalin you’ll meet the Warsong Recruitment Officer. He’ll give you the quest Hellscream’s Vigil and you’ll see right away the question mark pointing deeper into Warsong Hold. Descend the staircase until you get to a bump in it.

Runeforge

This is the entrance deeper into the hold. You’ll probably pass by it and go “OMG HOW DO I GET IN” then ask in general chat and then get yelled at. There is also two ramps near the zeppelin but that takes you straight to him and the innkeeper. Anyway go in inside. Williamson the innkeeper awaits you on the inside and will allow you to set your hearth here. Go for it. You’ll see our friend Hellscream and he won’t really do much once you turn your quest in. His friend, High Overlord Saurfang will be in an argument with him. Go ahead and talk with him (and watch the argument if you wish) and pick up the quest The Defense of Warsong Hold. While you are inside the hold go ahead and train your professions, purchase supplies, and get ready for battle.

Overlord Razgor is outside at 43,55 (just look for him and his ? on the map). Turn in the quest and BAM your minimap will EXPLODE in questing potential. Let’s get them all before the mini-map cannot take it anymore. Razgor will kick things off with Taking Back Mightstone Quarry. There are three more to get.

Runeforge

As you can see one of them is in the hold. Quartermaster Holgoth will give you Patience is a Virtue that We Don’t Need. Good, another quest! The next one is near 42,56 with a wandering Foreman Mortuus. Taken by the Scourge is his quest. Now enter the hold. You know how I see there were only three more to get? Yeah, I lied. There is three more to get inside the hold. Too Close For Comfort, Ride to Taunka’le Village, and To Bor’gorok Outpost, Quickly! are the targets of you right clicking. Now, let’s switch into kill mode!

Runeforge

40,58: (literally outside of the hold) you’ll find tons of Nerub’ar who are chomping at the bit to kill you. Do them one up and kill them instead. Do the next two quests at the same time.

Runeforge

40, 58: In the same area you’ll find Warsong Munition boxes. Various doodads around will look like crates but only the quest target will have white logos on them.

Runeforge

40,58: Again, same process. Just attack the prisoners (they’re wrapped up in white webbing). This will free them. From there you can get a peon (quest goal), a defender (who will follow you around and help), or nothing. You need 5 peons.

Return to town and turn in the quests. Pick up Bury Those Cockroaches!, Cutting Off the Source, and Untold Truths.

43,59: On this stairwell will be a ton of eggs. There is a 3 second cast time so be sure to clear everything out. Kill ten eggs. Anything that spawns will be super easy to take out. This isn’t the only stairwell, you can see a few from the cliff. I went ahead and got a prisoner or two to help out.

Runeforge

42,58, 44,57, 40,52, 41,50: This is a fun one. You’ll have Seaforium Depth Charges in your inventory. Approach a sinkhole and use it. Get out of the way or you’ll be blasted somewhere. Work in a circle around the hold blowing each and every one of them up. At 40,53 do the quest below.

Runeforge

40,52: Turn in Untold Truths and pick up Nerub’ar Secrets. I had trouble here because I had too many on me. Be sure to break open prisoners (don’t steal other quest prisoners though) to help you through this area.

Return to the hold and return all three of your quests. You should be at about 30-40 minutes of game time and with rested XP 2 and a half bubble in. That’s your friendly status update if you’ve started our guide from the start. Next up you’ll want to pickup Wind Master To’bor and Message to Hellscream as follow-ups.

Remember Hellscream? Return to grumpy pants and he’ll give you the quest Reinforcements Incoming… Then go to the top where you arrived on the zeppelin and hop on the elevator. Turn in your quest and pickup Magic Carpet Ride. We’ll hold on to that. While you’re up here get the flight path. Now head downstairs and outside. Head west out of the hold, up the metal stairs, and go straight to 38,52.

Runeforge

38,52: Turn in your quest and pick up The Warsong Farms, Damned Filthy Swine, and Merciful Freedom.  Begin killing Unliving Swine as you move about.

Runeforge

36, 52: Here will be a banner for Torg’s Farm. Just approach it to get the waypoint done.

36,52: Around here you’ll find Warsong Aberrations and En’kilah Necrolords that’ll drop cage keys. Loot them. They're used to unlock the nearby cages. More on that below.

Runeforge

34,54: The Warsong Granary. Approach the flag to get the credit.

Runeforge

39,47: Approach the Slaugherhouse to finish The Warsong Farms.

Runeforge

34,50: This waypoint is just for one I found, but all around the area are cages where you’ll need to free your companions.

Runeforge

Turn in, get Bring 'Em Back Alive and the other nearby quest. Bring 'Em Back Alive has a 10 minute timer but it's WAY easier than you think. You have ten minutes to use his item on the infected kodos that are all around to revive them and walk them back to camp. Alright, the secret is to IGNORE mobs. Just use your stomp/sprint ability to run back to the outpost. Most of the time the stuff will stop chase. Don't even go too far away to make it even easier. A lot of infected kodo are around the starting point for this quest.

Runeforge

35,46: Find Shadowstalker Getry on top of the tower. Turn in his quest and get Foolish Endeavors. This is a fun quest where you will need a bit of strategy. The Necrolord can and will tear through you. Let the shadowstalker chew through the guy a little bit and when he gets too low the event will change and more NPCs will spawn for your side. Just be sure to get in a few hits on the Necrolord so you’re not wiped to the ground. When I did the quest I simply went with a group and smashed him into the ground before the event started which is a viable strategy.

Town: Return to Warsong Hold and turn in Foolish Endeavors.  He’ll give you Nork Bloodfrenzy’s Charge which will take you outside where the pigs and prisoners are in the Mightstone Quarry. He’ll give you the follow-up Coward Delivery… Under 30 Mintues or it’s Free. Head to 55,50.

55,50: Use your flare, get the status update, and then head to 52,52 and turn it in. You should now be friendly with the Warsong Offensive. It’s time for more quest pickups. Get The Wondrous Bloodspore and Vermin Extermination. Now the Carpels are all around the quest giver so go ahead and get ten of them. The nearby Goblins are the target for the Vermin Extermination so take care of them to.

Nearby Area: We’re still here. Turn in all your quests and pick up Pollen from the Source. Moth killing time. Kill moths, get 5 items, return, get the follow-up A Suitable Test Subject. Use the item she gives you, laugh or cry as your character falls over in pain, and then get The Invasion of Gammoth. Walk three steps over, turn it in, and pick up Gammothra the Tormentor.

Runeforge

47,57: Nearby those cords you’ll find a lovely entrance to Gammoth. This be where the dragons are at. There are a TON of vermin inside and it’s gonna be tough work clearing them all out. What I did was jump down into the lake making the trip much easier. Around 46, 61 you’ll find Gammothra. On your way there if you run into any elites go ahead and use your powder on them too. It’ll weaken them. Use your powder on Gammothra and then kill him. He’s easy. Now leave the cave going back up the spiral. If you jumped down like me then on your way up keep your distance from the elites. If you aggro them then use your powder.

Runeforge

49,59: Once outside you’ll see a glowing arrow. Welp, head up the ramp in front of the entrance and get yourself over to it. It’ll give you the quest Massive Moth Omelot. Return to 52,52 to our lovely Horde outpost and do some quest turnins. You’ll get Trophies of Gammoth which will point us to a swift and hasty return back to Warsong Hold. Talk to Hellscream, turn in the quest, go up top, talk to Yanni, and then go to the inn and rest. When we pick back up we’ll be heading to Garrosh’s Landing.

Once you reach Warsong Hold I would highly suggest taking a break. Starting here from level 70 I found myself at 590k out of 1523k required to level up (or essentially 1/3rd of the way through) with about 2 and a half hours of playtime. Your mileage may vary.
