Tier 3 Scenario: Tor Anroc

Tor Anroc is a struggle to gain control of the Brimstone Bauble. Hold on to the Brimstone Bauble to earn points over time and more points per kill! The longer you hold the Bauble, the more damage you will take however!

We continue our Scenario Guides with a look at the Tier 3 Scenario: Tor Anroc.  Tor Anroc is one of the most popular Scenarios in the game.  Players love the straight forward King of The Hill approach to the Scenario.  If you have played Mourkain Temple in Tier 2, the basic strategy will feel familiar to you.  The one thing that sets this Scenario apart from Mourkain Temple… LAVA!

Basic Strategy

At its heart Tor Anroc is simply a King of The Hill Scenario.  Simply run to the center, grab the bauble and stay alive.  Simple right?  Well the concept is, actually doing it well, is not.

Standard Bearer Runs Faster

You can see on the map that both sides start the same distance from the Bauble. At the start of the Scenario each side races to the Bauble (the little skull in the center of the screen). The first player to pick it up (you can tell who this is as that they will have a floating skull rotating around them) runs toward their side and tries to stay alive. Everyone else's job on his side is to keep him alive, and likewise, everyone on the opposite side needs to kill him and take the Bauble.  The longer you hold the Bauble, the more damage over time you take. You get points for each kill in the Scenario.  You get bonus points for having the Bauble on your side, the longer you have the Bauble, the more points your side gets over time. You can also gain even more bonus points if you kill players while holding the Bauble.  That's it. The first to 500 wins, with a 15 minute time limit.

This scenario is a Knockback capable character's dream.  With narrow walkways and pools of lava that practically kill you within a few seconds, expect to see a lot of people flying through the air!  Order Tanks can gleefully listen to the mournful wails of the Witch Elves as they're knocked off ledges into the molten lava.  If you don't have Knockback, then you'll learn how it feels to fly.

Tip: Destruction has a small ledge near their spawn point that they can drop down and not fall in the lava.  This is a great place to hide the Bauble, making it very hard for Order players to get to you.

Class Roles

Tanks: Your primary job in Tor Anroc is simple. Get the Bauble! You are perfect for this job, since the Bauble will damage you more and more the longer you hold it, while every enemy player will be trying to kill the Bauble carrier.  You need a lot of armor, and tons of hit points. Guess what, that's you! So sprint to the center and grab the Bauble quickly! If one of the other tanks on your side has the Bauble, your job is to slow down the other side and prevent them from getting to your carrier. If your Bauble carrier is playing smart and ran back towards your spawn point, keep the enemy as far away from him as possible.  If the Bauble carrier is not a Tank.... stay close to them, the weakling will die soon enough and you will be able to grab it up! If your enemy has the Bauble, well, CHARGE IN THERE AND GET IT BACK! If you're able to, use Knockback to send the enemy Bauble carrier flying off into the lava.  The Bauble will respawn in the middle.  If you have a really good group with you, use /assist to concentrate your attacks on the Bauble carrier.

Tip: Never charge alone.  Make sure your entire side is with you before you make a rush for the Bauble carrier.  Otherwise, you are simply throwing your corpse at the enemy.

Bauble Holder

Melee DPS: Your primary job in Tor Anroc is to keep the enemy off your Bauble carrier. It's tempting to want to grab the Bauble, I know, but Tanks are better at this than you are, and your talent is wasted if you aren't fighting. You should only grab the Bauble, if and only if, there is no Tank around to do it. You make a decent back up for the Bauble carrier, but if there is a Tank there, let them grab it. If your side has the Bauble, then your job is to kill any enemy player that gets close. The further back you can keep them from the Bauble carrier the better chance of your side winning. If your enemy has the Bauble, things change a bit. While you should also CHARGE IN THERE AND GET IT BACK, this is one time that it's ok to take the Bauble. If you have a really good group with you, use /assist to concentrate your attacks on the Bauble carrier. With the damage you do, you are likely to be the one who kills the enemy carrier, DON'T wait for a Tank! If there are enemy players all around you, grab the Bauble and run back towards your spawn area.  When defending, keep your backs to a wall if possible so you won't go flying into the lava when, not if, but when you get knockback used against you.  Unless, of course, you like the feel of molten lava melting your bones.

Tip: While Mounts are not allowed inside the instance, a Standard Bearer can pull out his Standard, and use the speed increase from that to rush the Bauble at the beginning of the Scenario.  This is the absolute fastest way to reach the Bauble first.

Ranged DPS: Your primary job in Tor Anroc is to kill any enemy players that get close to your Bauble carrier. Hit them fast and hard, and keep hitting them until they back up. Don't get too carried away with chasing them though if they decide to run, let them. Your job is to protect the Bauble carrier, and while you are off chasing them down, his buddies are killing your Bauble carrier. The idea of the game here is to stay together and keep the enemy away from your Bauble carrier. Do not bother trying to go for the Bauble unless you have no choice. While everyone thinks it's fun, and wants it, not everyone is good at it. You are the worst! Between taking damage over time from simply holding the Bauble (and the damage gets really, really high) and every enemy player doing their best to kill you, you stand little chance of doing anything more than dying 50 feet over there. If the enemy has the Bauble, back up your Tanks and Melee DPS by concentrating your attacks on the Bauble carrier. If you have a really good group with you, use /assist to concentrate your attacks on the Bauble carrier.

Tip: KNOCKBACK, KNOCKBACK, KNOCKBACK!!!  Use any knockback abilities you have to send your enemies into the lava, and a fiery death.

Healer: Your primary job in Tor Anroc is to keep your Bauble carrier standing. Whoever has the Bauble on your side (hopefully a Tank) you should stay close to them, and keep your eye on his health bar. The damage from the Bauble starts off slowly, but given enough time, you will be spamming heals as fast as you can on the Bauble carrier. You will really need to be watching your action points here. You will quickly run out, so cast any AP taps you can on any enemy players that get close. This will replenish your action points, and keep the enemy players from getting off many attacks. If the enemy has the Bauble, keep your Tanks and Melee DPS standing so they can get it back.

Summary

The main key to success in Tor Anroc is to stay together. You will hear this a lot in Scenarios, and RvR in general. While it's a good rule of thumb, it is really needed in Tor Anroc. If your side has the Bauble, play defense, stay close to your spawn point, and play safe defense. If your enemy has the Bauble, you have to do just the opposite. While still working as a team, you need to throw caution to the wind, and charge in there and get the Bauble back. Every other target is secondary to the Bauble carrier. The winner is almost always the side that holds the Bauble the longest.
