AdventureQuest Worlds Browser-MMO Touts Millions
Are hits the same things as dollars? If so, you can hit me all you like.
Artix Entertainment has announced that their browser-based MMO game AdventureQuest Worlds (yes, another game that is has two capitalized words with no space) is hitting World of Warcraft like numbers with over 400,000 unique hits per day. this seems to confirm that browser based games should be on the rise because of their improved graphics, and accessibility (since they do not require a client to download). The devil is in the details and we also find that getting 400,000 hits a day is yielding about 33% of those hits into sign-ups for accounts with one of the four games the company runs, so I'm not sure that really equates to WoW-like numbers. That brings the number of players down to about 133,333 give or take for the four games. Still great numbers for a game not funded by one of the monster houses. Getting away from creative math for a minute, AdventureQuest Worlds:
"... provides players with exciting adventures battling armies of monsters in real-time combat and enjoying new weekly quests alongside thousands of other real players. Players can customize their characters with armors, capes, helms, and custom-crafted weapons from the Blacksmith's Shop at any level. Players have the freedom to change among different character classes at any time, and can level-up all of the classes to the max to unlock new skills and specialty shops along the way."
The screenshots on the website show some very good graphics (considering that this has to play over a browser), and provide visitors all of the tools they need to get started with their journey into AdventureQuest Worlds.
