AoC Community Survey #5 (6 month check-up)

Wexx is back with another community survey. This time he focuses on the six month milestone for AoC and how the games health has held up over the test of time. Take the time to fill out this short survey and examine some of the ones from the past. Keep up the good work Wexx.

What the ****? Snow Mammoths? Really?

This week's update brought a new mount to Hyboria and in standing with tradition we have our popular I hate it thread. While the Snow Mammoth is simply a rehash of the preorder mounts with a different skin it does offer all players a chance to now own a siege mount. This as expected has some people grinding their teeth. Funcom US Community Manager Glen "Famine" Swan dropped in to provide some feedback and let the masses know that work still continues.

Indeed, I will agree here. Mounts are important too for long term but that doesn't mean the developers stopped everything they were working on to make this happen. There are always many more things on the horizon that will surely get here soon and the developers have been working hard on those for the past couple of weeks. It just so happen that it didn't make it this week but they are on top of it.

This week AoC got the new Snow Mammoth mount.

Camel Mounts/Culture Mounts

Who can argue with the logic behind making a camel mount. It fits perfect into the lore of Hyboria and the first thing you think about when you hear the idea is Arnold smacking that poor camel in the mouth. Still, this idea has merit and while simply cosmetic could still add a fun option to the game. Thus I quote Tonia of the Official AoC forums...

Everyone loves camels (except maybe Schwarzenegger when he's had a bit too much that evening). They're loyal, hardworking, absolutely adorable and spit on your enemies. You see them all over the game, especially in Stygian lands.

So, I have one question...where are the camel mounts?

I don't even care if they ran slower than horses--I just want a camel. As a Stygian, I feel it's only appropriate. Perhaps that's another idea--only Stygians get camels. Other cultures could get other kinds of mounts. Like Aquilonians can have jackasses, or something equally fitting. Cimmerians could have rams because they're a bunch of mountaineering troglodytes.

I think that it's not unreasonable for people to be able to ride camels. Stygian Caravan Riders ride them, after all. And no offense to the developers but riding camels is much more realistic than riding mammoths and rhinos.

Culture mounts would be fantastic, however. There are many posts in this thread with the desire to have culture mounts of some kind. Some are a little too out of touch with realism (Not reality--realism. The content of this game is not reality despite many poor individuals who actually believe so.), however, I do like the idea of a flying carpet for Stygians. It made me chuckle, that is.

Either way, we need camels and we need them fast. What's a girl to do to get a camel around here?

Self Defense!

Since the new PvP Notoriety system went live it has been getting tweaked to address a few issues. Unfortunately, some of those issues are still around, but the developers at Funcom are working to get them patched up as soon as possible. Such is the case with Azmadeus...

I'm level 23 running through white sands on my way to help a guild mate out on a quest. On the way some level 13 attacks me, in self defense I kill them.

I'm now a criminal? Higher level toons pass through lower level areas on occasion and for legitimate purposes. Why would I be punished for defending myself? Should have I just tried to run and been backstabbed, snared, and killed myself?

Funcom can you address this? or am I looking at it the wrong way?

I came across an animated short a while back and while it is both annoying and amusing to watch I think you might enjoy it at least once. Enjoy the Crazy Frog!
