I'm new (relatively) to digital inking. I've always been a pencil and charcoal kind of guy. But I love doing these strips digitally, and I feel like I'm learning a little something new every week.
I'd been using the dodge and burn tools to shade for a while now, and while it looked "okay", I really think this way is better. I use the magic wand tool in Photoshop to select the area of the character I want to shade, then use the dropper tool to go a shade darker, and carefully line in the shadows. The result is something that I think looks a lot more natural even if it takes a bit more time.
Hope you think so too, because this will be how it goes from here on out.
