How many games can go to microtransactions in a day? Not that many.

Earlier today we found out that Everquest and Everquest 2 will include microtransactions, and now - at least according to ShackNews - the new BioWare MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic may also be running down that path. During the EA investor conference call today, the CEO, John Riccitiello apparently said:

"Other initiatives we've announced, for example [the] Star Wars online MMO, are mid-session games which are microtransaction-based," he continued. "You'll be hearing more about those in the February [conference] call."

Since I tend to fall asleep during the MBA-mumbo-jumbo of those conference calls, I'm taking the ShackNews quotes with a giant grain of salt. For some reason, my Spidey senses are tingling on this one. Maybe the quotes were taken out of context. Whatever it is, I can't let it go, so I've cattle-prodded (not to be confused with torture, Mr. Bartle) our Ten Ton Hammer crew to go pound on the door of BioWare to fill in the blanks. The rest of the interpretation can be found on ShackNews and stay tuned to Ten Ton Hammer for more information.
