Since the release of Echoes of Faydwer, the most common question I get asked is "Which deity should I choose?". I'm always hesitant to answer questions such as this because I feel that these choices are very personal and dependant upon ones own playstyle and roleplaying preferences. But in order to make your lives a bit easier, I did a bit of research and will share which deities are most commonly linked with which classes. In the least, this will give the players a starting point in doing their own research into what Gods they think will benefit them the most.
But do keep in mind, that in the end, the deity that will be most helpful to you is the one that has abilities that you will actually use when you play!
This Goddess, along with her abilities are very passive. You will find the focus of Quellious' miracles and blessings to be focused on hate reducing, power boosters, and various mezzes and stuns. Lorewise, Quellious is a favorite of monks, but I find that she is more useful for classes that truly need the hate reducers, such as the good aligned troubador, dirge, swashbuckler, mystic, monks (those monks that choose not to tank), and perhaps most in line with what illusionists generally do already.
Tunare is obviously aimed towards the good aligned healing classes. Her blessings and miracles are primarily heals and heal boosters, but she does have a couple of stifles, damage spells, and a utility spell that summons ranged ammo. Other than being well suited to the druids, templar, and mystic, she also makes a good choice for a ranger or paladin.
Heals, hate gain, and a horse summon, this is clearly the deity of choice for paladins, but other classes may find some of these abilities useful. I personally chose this deity for my monk, and think that it would also be useful for other good aligned fighters such as the berserker and guardian. I've heard of scouts choosing this deity, but I personally think there are better choices for the scouts.
This deity provides primarily damage spells along with a soothe and casting resource (casting time, reuse timer, power cost) reducers. Since Solusek Ro is neutral, both evil and good players may choose this God, and I have seen a very wide range of classes decide upon following Solusek Ro as most classes can use a bit more in the way of damage, but he seems to be the most popular with the mages, particularly wizards and warlocks. I do think Solusek Ro will work well with any of the DPS classes (mages and scouts) but I would also add bruisers and furies to the list for their DPS potential and roleplaying aspect with this deity.
Before we even get to the adventuring classes, Brell is the deity for those that choose to make their career in tradeskilling because he is the only deity that gives miracles and blessings that are useful for crafting. For adventuring classes, like Solusek Ro, because Brell is neutral, he is well suited to a wide range of classes. Brell miracles and blessings are for the most part, damage orientated with a stun, buff, and out of combat regen tossed in, so quite honestly, I cannot think of a class that this deity wouldn't be useful for.
Finally a God that is a true and natural choice for the scouts! This trickster deity is neutral, so he will work perfectly for any scout, good or evil. Other classes may enjoy this God, but truly, he is geared towards the sneakier classes of Norrath. The Bristlebane miracles and blessings are heavy with attack speed increases, but also has a hate reducer, a very nice all around dispeller, and of course, the diety pet which is a miniature Meatbeast!
Finally we are on to the evil Gods! Rallos Zek's miracles and blessings are very focused in attack damage and hate gainers, making this deity a fabulous choice for evil fighters. With the damage potential and a very nice strength and stamina buff, a lot of scouts will find these abilities also very useful, so Rallos has become a popular choice for assassins and brigands as well.
Cazic Thule is all about fear, and that just says to me "necromancer!", and while I think Cazic is a great choice for necros several other evil classes can greatly benefit from Cazic Thule's various miracles and blessings. With the roots, fears, pets, and mental buffs, I see this God working well for any of the evil mages and perhaps even for the inquisitor and defiler. I don't really see any great benefit for the scouts and fighters, though I've noticed that some of the evil scouts have made Cazic their God of choice.
Innoruuk is the evil "jack of all trades" deity. This God is a good choice for just about any evil class as the blessings and miracles mostly about doing damage. Along with some nice damage abilities, you do get healing, debuff, and mez abilities. The classes that seem to find Innoruuk most appealing are the defiler, inquisitor, shadowknight, dirge, and assassin. I think that there are better evil options for fighters and mages, so they tend to not choose this God.
