Raw Footage Released for Public View

The gods of Middle-earth have smiled upon us! Only a day after Turbine announced the Alpha phase of testing for Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar (LOTRO), raw footage of LOTRO has fallen into my grubby little hands! And now I'm going to share it with you.

Merely click on the link below to download the file. I've got two versions for you. The first is the orginal file, a whopping 128MB. The second file is the exact same as the first, but I have reduced its size to 50MB. The smaller file still looks good and is a worthwhile option if your download speeds are less than spectacular.

What will you see in this raw LOTRO video? You'll see stunning graphics for one thing. Oh, and smooth combat for another. You'll see buff icons, monsters in motion, and landscapes. A careful eye might be able to discern one class from another among the player characters. Look closely: think of the descriptions of the classes. You're in for 4 minutes and 45 seconds of LOTRO ecstasy!


I have but one last thing to note. Turbine's own Megan "Patience" Rodberg had this to say about the footage:

Just wanted to let you guys know that the "new" video is actually old footage that was never intended for release; it's not representative of the game in its current state at all. LOTRO plays very very differently now than is shown in that video.

A little later, another "blue name"--this one Keith--noted:

Can I just follow up what Patience said and say that having you guys exposed to older footage like that made most of us here, "Less than happy."
