LotRO: Mines of Moria Takes 1UP's Best MMORPG

Posted Tue, Jan 20, 2009 by Savanja

Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria has made wave after wave in the MMORPG community. Having impressed players across the globe this underdog has made a lasting impression on the readers of 1UP.com.

Subscriber-wise, Warcraft may have a stranglehold on the MMO genre, but that doesn't keep our users from declaring the world of Middle-Earth the go-to destination for true MMO connoisseurs. Tolkien's rich back story is definitely more interesting than WOW's mostly non-existent plot, anyway. And collecting wolf pelts is a lot more fun when you get to serenade other players with your rocking keyboard/lute skills.

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King wasn't far behind with 35% of the reader's vote but it just wasn't enough to win over the LotRO fans.

LotRO's new class comes late to the party, but it is certainly an interesting choice.
