The Lost Seekers: The Kobold's
Den

By Ralsu

Notes

The Waterworks is the key to getting the Harbormaster's permission to
enter the Marketplace. It is also on of the best dungeons in terms of
rewards in both XP and loot. You'll find that the Waterworks is about
the only Harbor quest people want to group for these days. The rest can
usually be completed solo or do not offer enough reward to make them
worthwhile in comparison to the Waterworks.

General Strategies

The Waterworks is overrun with kobolds. You'll do well to have along
one person who can buff the party with href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=252">Remove
Fear. Fighters, href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=143">rangers,
and barbarians shine on this quest, and they will rack up a good number
of kills. It is also useful to have a rogue who is building a href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=78">Master
Thief along for this mission to disable several traps.

Whenever wolves are present, kill them first. Otherwise, they can trip
you praty members and cause havoc. The killing order for kobolds should
be shaman, thrower, warrior. Hypnotism works very well in this dungeon
to temporarily stall the kobold warriors long enough for the party to
deal with the shamans.

style="font-weight: bold;">Section 1: Yourty party comes in at
a narrow and dank tunnel. You will soon be greeted by 4 kobolds that
jump out of the shadows. Killing them begins the bonus objective Slay
40 kobolds. There is also a nearby trap for the rogue to detect and
disarm.

Prepare wooden weapons and move a little north to encounter a pair of
lesser gray oozes. Just beyond the oozes, where the tunnel connects to
a four-way intersection is another trap for the rogue.

Section 2: Go east at the
intersection, but let the rogue scout ahead until she finds a group of
7 kobolds and a wolf. The goal is to pull these monsters back to the
party's safe spot at the 4-way. Try to kill the wolf first, since it
can trip players.

12 kobolds lie sleeping in the chamber beyond the kobold party that you
just killed. It's hard to move into the chamber and loot the chest
within without disturbing them, but it is possible to take out a few
just as they rise up in their bunks. Any crod control caster with
Hypnotism will help greatly here.

The chamber with the sleeping kobolds holds both a cabinet and a chest.
The chest yields Gnashtooth Guardroom key, which opens a couple of
doors in this dungeon. To the north is a pile of rubble guarded by a
small brown spider.

Section 3: Head back to
the 4-way and go west this time, following the curve of the tunnel to
the south. A rogue can pick the lock on the door here, or you can use
the Gnashtooth Guardroom key. 3 kobolds wait to greet you on the other
side. Slaughter them and help yourself to the spoils of the mushroom in
the corner. The chest contains Cheif Eechik's key.

Section 4: Go back to
the 4-way and move north this time. Ignore the left turn and stride
onward into battle with 6 more kobolds. After they are dead, the tunnel
curvers back to the east and takes you past a door that you cannot
open. This time skip the right turn and go forward to battle 2 kobolds
and 2 wolves. Kill the wolves first and enter the room beyond when all
mosnters are defeated.

This room holds 4 kobolds, one of them a shaman.Loot the mushroom in
the room and have the rogue search around the lever for a trap. With it
disabled, you can climb the ladder to loot a chest. The lever is one of
two you must pull to open the door you good not get through in the
hallway behind you.

You should be in need of a rest now, so exit the room and take the
first left, which will take you south into the only Rest Shrine for
this dungeon.

Section 5: From the Rest
Shrine, circle back to the left turn you skipped in the beginning of style="font-weight: bold;">Section 4. Down this hallway are a
total of 6 kobolds. When they are all dead, you can use Chief EEchik's
key to speak to him. There is also another trap in the chamber near the
second lever. Disarm the trap and you can obtain another chest for the
party. When you have pulled the lever, the party is ready to go through
the door you could not get through in Section
4
.

Section 6: A couple of
kobold warriors are waiting to welcome you in the newly opened tunnel.
3 more await you in the intersection to the north.

From the intersection, you can west to complete the optional obejective
Exterminate the Nest of Spiders and loot a chest. 8 brown spiders and
the black wido lie along that path.

If you go east from the intersection, you'll soon come to an ambush by
3 kobolds. Beyond them to the north you'll find another cabinet and the
entrance to the Clan Gnashtooth Prison, which completes this quest.
