The Lost Seekers: Venn's Trail

By Ralsu

Notes

You must have completed " href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=374">The
Kobold's Den" and " href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=390">Rescuing
Arlos" to access this quest. It is not necessary to complete this
quest in order to
enter the Marketplace, but it is one of the best early dungeons in
terms of
rewards in both XP and loot. You'll find that the Waterworks is about
the only Harbor quest people want to group for these days. The rest can
usually be completed solo or do not offer enough reward to make them
worthwhile in comparison to the Waterworks.

General Strategies

This quest opens with several fights against multiple oozes, so the
party should go in wielding wooden weapons. As the previous two quests
in this series, you'll be encountering plenty of kobolds. A href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=112">Crowd
Control Captain who uses Hypnotism will serve the party well.

To progress in this dungeon, you'll need to open the grate and drop
through the floor of the center room. But to do that, you'll have to
avoid some mean traps (a lot of acid) and deal with many monsters.

style="font-weight: bold;">Walk-through:
style="font-weight: bold;">Section 1 (oozes): A lesser gray
ooze is waiting just inside the tunnel entrance, and two more gray
oozes will ambush you a few feet beyond that. Around the corner to the
east are 4 more lesser gray oozes. Be sure to kill all of these within
the first hallway so that you do not involve the monsters waiting in
the large chamber to the east.

Section 2 (center room):
The large chamber to the east of the 4 oozes is the center room to this
dungeon and contains 6 kobolds, one lesser gray ooze, and (possibly) a
troglodyte named Ryssal, who yields bonus XP. Make use of crowd control
spells to incapacitate the kobolds while dealing with the ooze and the
troglodyte. Once they are dead, kill the throwers before dealing with
the warriors.

Pull both levers on the north and south wall of this large room to open
the sealed doors to the north and south. Take the north passage first.

Section 3 (north wing): First,
DO NOT JUST RUN DOWN THE HALL TO
THE NORTH!
The second narrow passage is filled with acid traps
that will easily kill a careless adventurer.

Your party has an opportunity to loot a chest in this wing, but it will
take cooperation and planning. The east side of the room just beyond
the first narrow passage is filled with water. Under the water is a
tunnel that can be opened with a lever in the room. However, the tunnel
will not remain open long enough for all in the party to get through.
One person will have to remain behind to open the door for the rest of
the party.

Those who go through the underwater tunnel for treasure should be wary:
10 kobolds await you on the other side of the tunnel. For sure, get the
crowd control, a tank, and a healer through that tunnel together to
neutralize the enemy. Once the 10 kobolds are dead, you can loot the
chest, but this will spawn 3 more kobolds. After looting the chest, the
part can swim back and open the door for the one person who remain
behind to operate the lever.

The adventure with the chest is optional, and the real reason for
coming to the north wing lies beyond the second narrow passage to the
north. You need to reach and activate two switches that will help
unlock the grate in the center room. Several acid jets fill that
hallway. It is best to accomplish this part of the quest by buffing one
person with Resist Acid and letting him or her run through to flip the
switches. That player can also turn valves to stop the acid jets and
provide a safe passage out. A mushroom sits at the far side of the acid
traps, near the switches.

Return to the center room and head south.

Section 4 (south wing): 10
kobolds await you in the large room to the south. As before, use crowd
control and mop up in a way that eliminated ranged threats first. You
can find an adventurer's pack in the southeast corner. The western door
is closed; you'll need to pull a lever at the top of the ramp in the
room to open it.

Just when the western tunnel turns south, you'll encounter 7 kobolds
and a wolf. Take out the wolf and the thrower first. The rest will be
easy. Just around the corner are the last two switches you need to
activate to open the grate in the center room.

After all of the fighting (especially if you went for the chest in the
north wing in Section 3), you
will likely need the dungeon's first Rest Shrine, which lies to the
south. Turn the valve to open the tunnel and clear out the 8 kobolds
(most throwers) and the lesser gray ooze that guard the Rest Shrine.
You can also loot an adventurer's pack here.

After resting, you can return to the center room and drop through the
grate to access the east wing. The fall is a long one. It is possible
to land on a few pipes on the way down to make your drop smaller, but
the easiest tactic is to jump straight int he middle and land in the
water. One miscue on your jump will leave you dead form fall damage.

Section 5 (east wing):
Search for a hidden wall to the east instead of going south. Open the
secret passage and kill the lesser gray ooze beyond. Go east until you
get to an intersection and get attacked by a pair of spiders. Then
you'll know your at a spot with another secret passage to the east.
This one leads to another optional treasure chest. This one is only
guarded by a trio of hobgoblin body guards. It should be ripe for the
taking!

If the party requires a A Rest Shrine before fighting the boss (or if
you need to take a soul stone to a Resurrection Shrine because of a
fatal fall), you can find the last one south from the entrance to the
east wing. When the party is ready for the final battle, return to the
spot where you fought the spiders and head north.

Boss Jittik: 8 kobold
warriors and a shaman guard Boss Jittik. A little crowd control will
seriously level the playing field here. You won't need any advanced
strategy to kill Jittik. Just overwhelm him with your numbers and he'll
fall in no time. Loot the rubble in the room and Jittik's chest to get
the password to the prison.

Pull a lever to open the eastern door and reach the entrance to the
Clan Tunnelworm prison. You have only one more Waterworks quest left to
complete!
