While there are still many of us who don't play the music in MMO games thanks to the sheer repetitiveness of it all, Funcom's Age of Conan soundtrack made quite an impression on the International Film Music Critics Association. Beating out every other videogame for the award just goes to show it's easy to miss really well composed game music. The news Funcom posted stated:

Knut Avenstroup Haugen wins best original score for a video game or interactive media at the IFMCA awards 2008'

The International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA) is an association of online, print and radio journalists who specialize in writing about original film and television music. Age of Conan was up against some fierce competition last month as it battled the following games:

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE FOR A VIDEO GAME OR INTERACTIVE MEDIA

* Afrika, music by Wataru Hokoyama
* Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, music by Knut Avenstroup Haugen
* Gears of War 2, music by Steve Jablonsky
* Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, music by Chris Tilton
* Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, music by Mark Griskey

Age of Conan came out on top in the end and Knut Avenstroup Haugen took home the prize! Congratulations Knut and his team! You can find out more about the awards, winners and the IFMCA here.
