Slayer - "He did not care any more... life and death were the same."

As a Slayer, you're part of an elite fraternity. No, not the cool assassin's guild out of Wanted, but the fraternity of emo Dwarves (two words you'd never thought you'd see next to each other). You're known for charging into battle without wearing armor, just pants (thank Myrmidia), sporting a robust mohawk with wild red dyed hair that stands straight up from the application of pig fat, full body tattoos, and shouting out phrases such as "Free Me!" and "The Shame!", which really just makes you a buzzkill for the after battle celebrations. Since Dwarves don't really know how to properly be emo (it just isn't in their nature, which is why they see the Elves as a bunch of namby-pamby, wussy boys who need to to suck it up), they will rush into battle without a care to their own safety and try to get other people to cut on them instead of doing it themselves. If they live to fight another day, they get pretty upset about it, and go sulk in the corner with a beer keg while looking at their wounds and thinking "Dammit! If that had been two inches higher, I could bleed to death, and then finally I would've been happy!". Needless to say, this type of attitude never gets you invited to the cool parties (well that, and your hair smells strangely like someone just made bacon), but because of the stupendous amount of damage you do in a fight, your friends still keep you around anyway.

Watch that Berserk meter there, Mister!

Slayers are the Dwarven Melee DPS class. DPS is their business, and business is damn good! Your Berserk mechanic works off how much "rage" you build up and "rage" is built up when you hit people, when people hit you, when you stub your toe, when someone says "nice fight" even though you lived, etc. Between 1-25%, you stay safe; between 25-75%, you do extra damage (this is known as "Furious" and the optimal area for you); and from 75% onward (known as Berserk), you do exceptional damage, but loose a major amount of damage mitigation. Thus, unless you have a full time healer dedicated to you (which honestly, is pretty scary to watch), you want to stay in the middle range. This affords you a high level of damage while still being able to mitigate the normal amount of damage for your class. You have abilities that burn off your "rage" and can level out your Berserk meter, so make sure to use on every 4 or 5 shots or so.

In a fight, focus on using your two AoE attacks as this will be where you'll get the most bang for your short lived buck. At level 4 you'll get "Flurry", which allows you to attack 3 people in front of you. It recharges and builds "rage" quickly, so you can spam it. That will be followed up with "Wild Swing" at level 6, which allows you to hit everyone within 30ft and does extra damage if your Berserk meter is in the 25-75% range. Also, "Wild Swing" exhausts your Berserk meter, so it's a great way to keep yourself in check. Your positional attack, "Spine Crusher" that you get at level 7 does a sizeable amount of damage, so use it when ever possible, especially when chasing that pansy caster who always runs away from you. At level 3 you'll get a damage snare with "Slow Down". Always lead off with this as it will keep your enemy close.

Hey, anyone else smell bacon?

Make absolutely no mistake here, even with medium armor, going into the Berserk area (75%+) on your Berserk meter makes you as squishy as a Bright Wizard covered in sponges who just got out of the shower. Sure you do an immense amount of damage, but you're on the fast track to a respawn back at camp and that keeps you out of the fight longer. Staying within 25-75% on your Berserk meter will be a challenge, but it also pays off the most dividends. You'll stay in the fight longer and a few of your abilities do more damage as long as you're in that range only.

The Slayer is a fun class to play as far as Melee DPS classes go. They have excellent damage potential, AoE attacks, and huge mohawks that stand straight up from all the pig grease rubbed into them, but they are challenging as you have to pay as much attention to combat as you do your Berserk gauge, to keep yourself in top shape.
