World of Warcraft (WoW) is one of the hottest games on the market. Since its launch, WoW has grown and showed no signs of slowing down. This has caught the attention of advertisers who now want to buy a little ad space within the game. Gamasutra recently posted a story about the topic strait out of the MI6 game marketing conference in San Francisco where Blizzard, WoW, and Battle.net were a hot topic on advertisers minds. However, since strait advertising won't fit directly into the WoW game, advertisers are considering another approach to get a piece of that virtual pie. Massive, a company aimed at getting advertisements into gaming worlds is trying to make some of this happen.

While the previous montage showed a number of in-game implementations for real-world-set titles, that approach cannot convincingly work for fantasy and sci-fi games like World of Warcraft and Halo -- but Richards noted that advertisers still want access to those games' lobbies, websites, and other peripheral spaces.
