In what could be one of the most anticipated story-driven MMOGs currently in production, The Secret World hasn't shown us much of what it will be but if what Ragnar Tørnquist has to say about is even close to what it will be at launch, then TSW will be ground breaking.
In a recent interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun Tørnquist talked a bit about his past experience with Anarchy Online then went on to share about what he hopes to do with The Secret World's storyline.
RPS: Does that lead to some kind of end game? You cant keep telling the story indefinitely?
Tørnquist: The open structure of the world means that there will be missions to do after the main linear story is completed, and well keep adding to the world. But a linear story does have an end, and we do have an end for the launch version of the game: were going to finish with a cliffhanger. Were planning on expansions and content upgrade, and that will continue the story. Youll complete the story and say Oh crap I want to know what happens next! But then youll have to wait for the next season, and spend some time roaming around, discovering the other parts of the story. Theres lots to discover around the world, clues, bits and pieces of the puzzle, and we actually have mechanisms for putting that together. Youll get rewarded for finding all this out, too - you wont just get rewards fighting monsters, youll get story rewards and the time you put into it. It should take people a very long time to discover everything.
