Elquinjena stood and looked out beyond the waters at the Qeynos Harbor docks. Her eyes focused along the distance horizon, as if she might see beyond, to a time long past.
Back before the wars, the shattering, over 500 years to a time when love burned her soul and overflowed her heart with joy. Without warning, he was snatched away from her. In a furry of hate, she stormed the Plane of Growth to demand answers from Tunare, but Tunare would not give her any. She give her time, time to stay alive and watch for his return.
Time! She sneered. Time had allowed her to live though the bloodshed, the cries of the dying, the screams of the living for the dead. To watch forests burn and the land be swallowed by the seas.
She closed her eyes to block out these memories as she reached back to her quiver to pull out a carefully wrapped bundle. The wrapping fell away, exposing a gleaming silver arrow.
Nocking the arrow, Elquinjena drew the bow back with all her strength, pointing it the skies. Tears cascaded down her cheeks as the pain of lost and longing throbbed through her.
She held it there even as the cord cut through her fingers, blood dripping to the boards at her feet. Finally she released it, crying out his name as the arrow soared beyond sight. "Jethal!"
Out beyond the discovered lands, the silver arrow soared. Finding its target and driving its self deep into a old and ancient tree. The land shook as the tree spilt in to, releasing a male wood elf from a long and troubled dream. Falling to the ground he began to tremble. Taking a long breath, he pushed up off the damp ground, his voice ringing in the still air, "Elquinjena! I LIVE!"
