Pet Collecting
There
are over 100 vanity pets available in World of
Warcraft, without the special promotional pets, or trading card pets.
Collecting 50 – 75 of these pets can be a challenge as most
of these pets are
rare drops from specific mobs throughout Azeroth, only available to get
during
one of the WoW Seasons, or requires high reputation with a specific
faction.
Here
is my guide, listing over 100 vanity pets available in
the game.

There is another way to get Alliance Pets besides fishing the Auction
House and paying a large amount for an Alliance Pet. You will need a
friend to help. Have this person help guide your new Alliance character
to a Neutral Auction house, there you can put something cheap up in the
Neutral Auction house (ie: a Shiny Apple) for 100 Gold, this will give
you enough Gold to buy all of the Alliance pets. Then just create a new
character of each of the races, leaving the character at the Neutral
Auction House. You can send money to each of the characters and mail
all the pets gathered to the character sitting at the Neutral Auction
House. Your Horde friend, will then have to buy your Alliance Pets for
you from the Auction House. A second person on a different account is
needed, as you cannot purchase or bid on anything that any character
from your account has put on the Auction House. [/protip]

unlucky and
spend hours of slaughtering the same mobs for 3 hours and never see it
drop.
[protip]
Some
of the new raptors have a 100% (guaranteed) chance of dropping off of
rare
spawns in specific zones. There are two ways to find these rare mobs:
1) create a macro with the rare spawn's name (ie. /Target Dart) while
you are running around it's pathing area, or if the rare mob stays in a
small area, just check in once in awhile and click the macro a few
times to see if it's there. 2) Another way, and easier way, is to
download the Addon NPC Scan. This works just like the /target macro
only you do not have to smash the button, and will alert you when it
has found something. It can be difficult sometimes to find the rare
spawn once you have it targeted, having a Focusing Lens will come in
handy, it show and point you in the direction that your target is
at.[/protip]

The Ledgermain Lounge (2 books)
-One on the empty bookshelf by the northwest entrance - farthest from the

-One is on the empty bookshelf in the upstairs room on the left.
The Violet Citadel (2 books)
-One will be on the first floor to your right, facing in, on the left bookshelf.
-One is upstairs, next to the Caverns of Time portal on the floor between the bookshelves.
The Threads of Fate (1 book)
-Upstairs on the balcony, the book will spawn on a crate to your right as you are facing away from the door.
The Dalaran Visiting Center (1 book)
-To your right as you are facing into the room, on the ground, between the
two chairs.
The Violet Hold (1 book)
-Will spawn by the
normal daily dungeon quest giver on a crate.
The Violet Gate (1 book)
-The room with the
Portal Trainer, will be to your right as you are facing into the room
and on the floor to the right of the bookshelf.
[protip] The books are not there at all times and will disappear after
a short time, sometimes you will find placeholder books in place of the
School of Arcane Magic books. You can sit and wait at each of the spawn
points and hope for a book to show. The absolute best time to visit all
the locations as soon as possible is after rolling restarts or right
when the servers come up from a patch. This will cause all locations to
spawn a book! Try to visit them all as quickly as
possible before the
books despawn, if you are lucky none of them spawned a placeholder and
you can get your achievement done quickly.[/protip]
