PvP in The Secret World - New from PAX 2009

Updated Thu, Sep 10, 2009 by Ethec

After a look at The Secret World's three secret societies, Funcom's Ragnar Tørnquist and Martin Bruusgaard plunged into the seriously secret information on what PvP will be like in The Secret World. The societies depend on "anima" for their magic and abilities, but anima can only be found in one place: deep in Hollow Earth.

The stage is set for large-scale PvP, which Ragnar described as "a game unto itself" and Martin described as having "light RTS elements" such as defenses and turrets.

Ragnar also detailed the extensive recordkeeping that the game will do, including geo-specific tracking to ensure you'll be in the "top 1,000 somewhere." Players will obtain new ranks in their societies and unlock new content based on their participation, as well. Finally, carrying forward the viral coolness that's been a hallmark of the TSW reveals, Ragnar will show you three new symbols that hint on some new threats emerging to rival the secret societies.
