It's a problem in every MMOG but with the shiny newness of Aion, gold spammers are working double time to reap the rewards of a new and potentially profitable playerbase. For those in game, we observe the ridiculous amount of spam in channels and in whispers with dismay. For those who have yet to get in game, reports of the barrage of spam attacks is enough to prompt future players to stand back and wait for the dust to settle.

NCsoft posted an address to the community letting players know that it is a priority and giving a few tips that will help them combat this growing concern.

We currently have Game Masters monitoring all our servers. They track chat channels closely and have been banning thousands of spammers every day. This form of active monitoring is a part of a much larger network of tools and sensors that we’re currently utilizing to help create a better game experience for the Aion community across the board.

The monitoring is in addition to various techniques they are utilizing to hopefully automate the chat filtering process a bit better. Are players having any luck reducing the amount of spam they receive? I generally ignore it but channel spam has gotten silly. Is it a big issue for you?
