Kirin
Tor History
Before the Kirin Tor was in existence, mages of all sorts lived in a
place called Strom. Hardships were many there and eventually some moved
north where the city of Dalaran was created with much help from the
high elves. The city eventually became the center of arcane study and a
haven for magic users. The mages used their powers to protect
the other residents and to make the city even more glorious. But all
was not well.
With no ruling body to control them, the mages casts spells haphazardly
and caused tears in the fabric of reality. These tears eventually
attracted the Burning Legion, bringing them back to Azeroth. When
demons and other things began to slip through these tears and wreck
havoc on the city the ruling body of Dalaran, the Magocrats, were
forced to once again turn to the elves for help. The Elf mages decreed
that in order to stop the threat humanity would have to give up magic.
The Magocrats did not agree and instead wanted a mortal champion to
protect them that would have access to all of their might. The elves
agreed and the newly formed Order of Tirisfal helped to provide
guidance in the choice. The Magocrats sent a few of their
number to research and catalog all human magic. These mages would
become the Kirin Tor.
The Kirin Tor eventually became the ruling body of the small yet grand
city of Dalaran. Their headquarters being the Violet Citadel, which
contained many libraries, research chambers, classrooms, and bedrooms.
The ruling council of six met in a room with no visible walls, the
Chamber of Air. But even the Kirin Tor eventually found themselves
unable to stop Prince Arthas in his advance on Lordaeron.
Arthas gained the spell book of Medivh and Kel’Thuzad used it
to summon Archimonde who then destroyed Dalaran. Since
Kel’Thuzad was once a part of the Kirin Tor many felt the
destruction was deserved and punishment for
Kel’Thuzad’s crimes. The Kirin Tor however refused
to leave their home and they returned to the ruins. Once they had
reclaimed the city they erected a giant purple dome around the city
that would destroy anyone so bold as to touch it.
Led by Malygos, the blue dragonflight has recently declared war on all
mortal magic users and in response the mages of Dalaran have levitated
the city high above Northrend. Dalaran today floats above the
Crystalsong Forest as a neutral haven for both Horde and Alliance in
direct defiance to the blue dragonflight as well as the forces of the
Lich King.
Kirin Tor Reputation
Kirin Tor Normal Quests
Like most other factions the Kirin Tor have quests scattered throughout
Northrend that can be done as you level up. While certainly not as many
quests are available for the Kirin Tor as other factions, there are
enough to give you quite a good start. Included in this
listing will be the quest level, reputation gained, and if the quest is
faction specific or available to both Horde and Alliance. If the quest
as no reputation listed beside it, it indicates a quest that does not
give reputation but needs to be done to unlock others that do.
