AdventureQuest Worlds: Giving Thanks to Cornycopia

…isn’t it spelt “cornucopia”?

According to the English Dictionary,yes. But the team at AdventureQuest Worlds (www.AQ.com) knows of no such thing. We follow our own language governed by the typos and somewhat clever play-on-words that encompasses the world of Lore. But you might not know what “Cornycopia” is. Allow me to provide you with an official AQW definition: Corn’ee’co-pee’ah; noun; a Harvest festival celebrated in Lore, stuffed with juicy loot and savory Turdrakens (see below for a “fowl” example).

As you may already know, weekly releases happen every Friday. But since Thanksgiving comes midweek (and we still haven’t caught a Turdraken), this week’s release has been bumped to Wednesday! (5 days of work in only 72 hours? Can it be done?!). Join us this Wednesday when Cornycopia returns to Lore for the second time—since, after all, AQW has only been around for one year! The weather is getting colder. The nights are getting longer. And hybrid holiday entrees are strewn across the land! Hack, slash, and devour your way through countless buffets of pun-laden monsters, such as the Grapes of Wrath and Butter Bomb Turkeys! I hope you’ve equipped some sweatpants… because you’re ganna need ‘em.

Missed out on Cornycopia last year? No problem—just replay through all of last year’s quests and zones this week! Oh, and it gets better: you can also get a hold of Seasonal Rare Items that were released last season… and a few new ones that have been added to this Harvest’s harvest! Aaaand it gets better-er: after completing the original quests, you can partake in a festive food-fight against your friends! Or, if you wanna stay sweet-potato-casserole-free, you can always embark in a Cornycopia-style scavenger hunt! This is the time for giving thanks after all… and we are doing just that!

Black Friday Festivities

Following the Harvest festival is a day unlike any other: it’s the one, and only, Black Friday! Retailers nationwide bunker down for this legendary day while arming themselves with oversized marshmallows in hopes of surviving the stampede of coffee-fueled over-night-camping shoppers (heh… this gives a whole new meaning to being spawn-camped). Since retailers do this event every year… what could be a better time for us to start!?

Start off early by visiting Cysero, the Mad Weaponsmith in Battleon, where you can be first-in-line to experience the 2009 Black Friday Shop! Adorn yourself with black-dyed armors and weapons, and you’ll be surprised to find that some of the items are 1/2 off… literally! Apparently Cysero misunderstood the meaning of a 50% discount… Don’t worry, though; I’m sure half of a sword works just as well as a fully intact one…right?
