SOE Previews The Vigilant Dungeons in EverQuest 2: Sentinel's Fate

Posted Mon, Feb 01, 2010 by Martuk

With the release of EverQuest 2: Sentinel's Fate approaching, Sony Online Entertainment is showing no signs of slowing down with their reveals for the upcoming expansion. This week, the team previews The Vigilant Dungeons, three flying dungeon instances geared towards level 90+ players. The Vigilant features three group instances: The Vigilant: Incursion; The Vigilant: Infiltration; and The Vigilant: Rescue. Kyle "Kander" Vallee, the person responsible for building The Vigilant zones, joins the team to detail what players can expect to find in the new dungeons and how they help advance the story of Odus and what happened to its inhabitants.

We were looking for a flying dungeon! We wanted the zone to feel totally different than anything we have ever done! The zone artist is Urban McLafferty, and he was not afraid to try any wacky idea I came up with, along with lots of wackiness of his own.  In some of the later versions people will get to see the underbelly of the ship and there are some spots that really make you feel like you are flying over the world! Also the zone itself is an obstacle, as well as its contents! There are several places you can fall out.
