Married Couples Get Some In-Game Love

MapleStory, the record breaking 2D MMOG, is giving some love to the 13,314 in-game married couples that venture around their in-game world. According to the press release, which we have attached below, the next three months will feature the launch of a whole slew of in-game events and gameplay activities for all players to enjoy. While married couples get the Amorian Challenge, an exclusive adventure just for them, other new additions include the Mushroom Temple and a weekly "Monster Cookout"! Ten Ton Hammer has received over two dozen screenshots showcasing the new activities, and we urge you to check them out!

Nexon America Inc., the U.S. division of Asia's leading online game company Nexon Group, announced today the launch of special summertime events and new gameplay features for its blockbuster massively multiplayer online game (MMOG), MapleStory. With 3.7 million registered users in North America alone, Nexon's MapleStory is one of the fastest growing Asian MMOGs among those serviced in the U.S.

Throughout the next three months, MapleStory will launch a variety of jovial in-game events and new game play features for all players to enjoy.  For the 13,314 in-game married couples in MapleStory, the Amoria Party Quest (The Amorian Challenge) is an exclusive adventure just for them -- the first of its kind in the world of MMO games.  For those who have said "I do" in the game with that special someone, the Amoria Party Quest provides a variety of unique challenges across more than eight stages with new items and an exclusive boss, the Geist Balrog.

Also new to the game is the introduction of the Mushroom Temple, an enticing new town based on landscapes from Japan, with new areas, dangers, secrets and monsters.  MapleStory players are encouraged to take on this new challenge.

Letting the summer games begin, The Maple Summer Drop Event will have monsters drop different tubes and surfboards, which players can use as weapons. The  "Double Drop Event" will give out double the loot per kill, and has scheduled times every Thursday and Saturday for two hours. A "Monster Cookout" is scheduled for every Friday where low-level monsters will be summoned in random locations throughout MapleStory.

In addition, special Game Master (GM) events will take place every Wednesday and Friday for one hour, where players can participate in different event maps and compete against other players with the chance to receive an event trophy and a secret scroll that awards random items. To celebrate Independence Day, monsters will also drop special, patriotic hats that are wearable in-game. Finally, as homage to summertime tradition, a new quest, Cody's BBQ, will be open for players to trade in maple meat, BBQ sauce or charcoal for an Independence Day Flag and other goodies.

Events have also been planned for the MapleStory website. The "GM Blog Event" will invite users to comment on a GM Blog, in which 20 select users will receive 10,000 Maple Points. Also, Cash Shop Sales will take place multiple times during the month for special packages, discount summer items and 1000 NX cash sales.
