Game Director Craig Morrison has posted new details about the upcoming integration of the new Dreamworld engine technology in his June "Letter from the Game Director" for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. The new updates will be aimed at providing a more stable client and network as well as new tech features and improved tools for back-end development that will allow the developers to create better content more efficiently.

What will this mean for players? Better performance and content for one, but Morrison also notes that for an update such as this the developers may be dedicating a development cycle to it. This could mean that in the future there may be a slightly bigger pause between a given content update cycle, but when that may happen has not been determined as of yet.

So in this case it means that once in a while we make this commitment to take a development cycle out of the normal schedule and dedicate it to improving the platform upon which we build our games. A content update is very tangible, you can see new items, new dungeons, new quests and all those things and gauge what you are getting, an integration update like this is a little more intangible for those outside, so I thought it worth using this month’s letter to take this topic and elaborate a little more.
