EVE Online is so often embroiled in politics, combat and other bits of drama that it's sometimes easy to forget that the game has solid lore and storylines behind it as well. Mondes Persistants recently got the chance to speak with Hjalti "Abraxas" Daníelsson, Creative Writer and author of the EVE Online novel The Burning Life as well as several of the EVE Online Chronicles to discuss the author's creative process and what has inspired some of his writings.

The genesis of the idea came in two parts. The first was a real-life event that inspired the first chapter of The Burning Life. Someone whom I knew died very suddenly, and the fallout from that death and the events following it had a massive impact on a great number of people. I‘ve read a lot of books where the first chapter starts with tense scenes of action and danger, and I‘ve never thought it was a good idea, since the reader doesn‘t yet have enough emotional involvement with the characters.
