The leveling curve is an integral part of every MMOG with RPG like qualities, but it seems that Guild Wars 2 will be throwing a curve ball at the standardized concept of XP. Commonly you will level faster at the earlier levels and longer at the later levels. However, GW2 will be spacing levels out evenly for all eighty of them giving you about the same time it takes from going to level one to level two as it would to go from level 79 to 80.

So how did we accomplish our goals, you ask? Good question! First off, we set the level cap for the game at 80, but we made the time between levels rather short. Instead of taking longer and longer to reach each level, it takes about the same time to go through each level. It’s pretty simple; if we expect you to level up every few hours, then why shouldn’t it be that way all through the game?

Of course, it's entirely possible to do this with the game taking the same amount of time to complete using the traditional leveling curve. You simply just spread the levels out evenly instead of putting the bulk of the time toward the higher levels. Everyone feels happy because they're making a lot of progression each time they play instead of hitting the higher levels and feeling like the entire play session did nothing but move them a tiny bit closer to their goal.

It'll be interesting to see how this works out and I can't find any major complaints, other than fast early levels provide a lot of quick enjoyment for new players who see themselves becoming very powerful very quickly before reaching the more difficult content, but if you level every hour of two as is then that shouldn't be a problem anyway.

One thing to note is that the level cap is now confirmed as level 80 and there will be a lot of other things to do in GW2 than just level:

As you can see, our leveling curve is pretty simple. Now, keep in mind that we haven’t finished everything and we’re still working out a lot of the details, but progression in Guild Wars 2 is way more than just leveling. We have achievements, trait collection, crafting, dungeons, skill collection, items, and much more.

So you'll have something to do other than work toward the endgame and once you reach there then there should be even more content to keep you busy.
