Rift: Planes of Telara players may have gotten a bit excited at the appearance of a new beta link on the official Rift: Planes of Telara website, but that excitement quickly became confusion when clicking the link failed to send you to the beta page. But Trion Worlds Sr. Community Manager Cindy Bowens is on the job and recently posted a detailed explanation of the beta process and offered an apology for the miscommunication that resulted in a lot of confusion.

Cindy explained that if you've already signed up for a Rift: Planes of Telara account you are already in the beta pool. Essentially this breaks down into three parts.

  • VIP Invites: If you were lucky enough to attend one of the Rift community events that Trion was handing out codes at this is you. These are guaranteed invites.
  • First Beta Pool: If you signed up for a Rift: Planes of Telara account before October 2nd, 2010, this is you. This pool has a greater chance at being selected for the game's beta.
  • Second Beta Pool: Anyone that signs up after October 2nd, 2010 falls into the second beta pool.

Trion is rewarding loyal community members by doing this, so if you've been a member for a while your chances of getting into beta are a bit better. So keep checking those emails.

As of today, everyone who has a Trion account has been issued a code for a chance to get into beta! This code is the same as the codes that were handed out at PAX, Gamescom and with the comic book. They give you a chance to be in the beta! Your code is automatically assigned to your account. There is nothing you have to do. If you are signed up with a Trion account as of today, you are in the beta pool!
