Well it seems that Blizzard really and truly has established WoW as a legitimate sport. Do you know how I can tell? All legitimate sports seem to eventually have to deal with the issue of replays, and that's what Blizzard has to deal with now as a result of the fiasco at BlizzCon that saw one Arena team awarded first prize, then having to go back and play again after finding that the kill came after the 20 minute time limit.

This is covered very well by G4 here:

The amount of controversy surrounding the 2010 World of Warcraft arena grand finals is insane. It's been three days since the event and WoW arena junkies are still trying to determine exactly what happened. They're still fighting with one another over who the "true" winner really is. While team aAa took the title over team CompLexity.Red, many hardcore arena fans are absolutely outraged by how the final match went down.

In the end I am not sure we will ever know what really happened or how it should have played out. Amid all the controversy on the net and how close the games really were I think three things should happen:

1) Blizzard should award both teams the prize and title
2) Create clearer rules for the future, and if the time limit really is 20 min, it should be hard coded to drop everyone at once so this can not happen again
3) Change the rules so that teams can not play to not lose, but need to play to win. While the matches were entertaining, it really felt too defensive, they were going to try to win by damage caused not by actually killing someone.
