TERA Details Item System Changes

TERA Loot

TERA now has even more options to get that shiny loot.

One of the main driving forces to keep players going in an MMORPG is undoubtedly the loot and gear. While these aren't the only factors, they are important for the advancement of your character. After TERA's last Focus Group Test, En Masses Entertainment made a few changes to the itemization in TERA to allow for better rewards and offer new ways to for players to obtain gear. The new changes have reportedly added over ten times the amount of weapons and armor options to the game than were first displayed by the team in early 2010.

So how do you get these fun little toys? Crafting is one way to obtain gear as is enchanting, however, the usual method of beating down some poor boss mob and taking his stuff still reigns supreme. But TERA also appears to have borrowed from barter systems like those found in The Lord of the Rings Online and World of Warcraft to allow players to exchange tokens for gear.

There are now items named after rare monsters encountered in the field, as well as "bosses" within instanced dungeons. Some drop from the creature directly, while others can be purchased with tokens earned through instances or quests. Battleground reward items designed for PvP are another new feature, as well as an increased chance to craft something truly special while you're whittling away through those boundless stacks of gatherables.
