Firefall gets a new set of powerful animation tools with Morpheme.

Firefall developer Red 5 has licensed some new technology to help power the upcoming online shooter. In a recent press release, Red 5 announced a new licensing agreement with NaturalMotion, developer of the euphoria engine made popular in gamed like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, to use their Morpheme animation engine in Firefall. Morpheme adds a powerful set of animation tools to the development team’s arsenal to help craft believable and realistic looking animations.

“In Firefall, we are creating a futuristic and fantastical world, but believability remains a priority,” said Mark Kern, Founder and CEO of Red 5 Studios. “If you cut corners when it comes to animation, you are betraying the vision of your game. Morpheme lets us meet our high standards of quality while maintaining a very efficient pipeline.”

Firefall is scheduled to tentatively release near the end of 2011. But beta registration is now available and you can sign up to help test the game here.
