One of the big questions every player with a level 80 wants to know is when exactly am I going to be able to turn my Vanilla WoW/TBC toon into a Worgen or a Goblin? Well Blizzard has revealed their plans on this front via their new community blog.

Yes, somebody at Blizzard really loves to blog as we seem to have daily updates and juicy news. The post revealed that if you want to cough up some cash and get a race change, you’ll be able to do so immediately once Cataclysm launches on December 7th. But if you’re thinking you’ll be able to snag one of those all-important Realm First achievements, you’re gonna be disappointed as Blizzard have nixed achievements relating to a specific race. Nice try, folks.

Now it’s unlikely to happen but what if you don’t like your Worgen or your Goblin? Yes, I know, it’s just not going to happen and I can’t see anyone paying to change their low level toon. However, should you wish you can also change from Worgen and Goblins to another race (as if you would!) but there’s a caveat. You can’t race change whilst your toon is going through the opening areas of Gilneas and the Lost Isles. This is because both areas are phased, just like the Death Knight starting area in Wrath, and so not technically part of the Azeroth we know and love because no one else can get into them.

So, if you’re entranced by Worgen flight form, or feel the desire to have a Trike of your very own, then it won’t be too long before you can convert your tired, old Orc and your pink-haired Gnome to something new and fresh. Me? I’m going for a Worgen Druid.
