Spike TV has set the date for the 2010 Video Game Awards. The 8th annual event will take place on December 11th, 2010 at 8:00pm ET. The two hour event will air in over 175 territories worldwide and show some of the industry’s biggest names fighting it out for a number of awards. Top industry studios BioWare, Blizzard, Bungie and Rockstar San Diego will compete for Studio of the year, while BioWare's hit Mass Effect 2 will compete with the recently launched Call of Duty: Black Ops, God of War III, Halo: Reach and Red Dead Redemption for Game of the Year.

In addition to the event, BioWare will be unveiling its next title. My money is on the final installment to BioWare's epic sci-fi fantasy, Mass Effect 3. Check out the official announcement for all the event details.
