Ten Ton Hammer - Taking MMO Gamers to the Next Level!

We all know that Undead Labs has been locked away in their secret development laboratory working on their first zombie-based MMOG for the console. But the developer unveiled new plans recently for its first game. And it's not the zombie MMOG we've all been hearing about. In a recent announcement, Undead Labs revealed new plans to develop an original zombie-based franchise to be published by Microsoft on the Xbox 360.

The game, currently codenamed Class3, will be available on the Xbox Live Arcade and is an open world, third-person action game in which human civilization has been ravaged by a zombie apocalypse. The premise is quite similar to what we've been hearing about the zombie MMOG, including fast cars, humans working together to rebuild civilization and huge amounts of zombie gore.

The end is here. Human civilization has been annihilated. The few, scattered survivors must band together, rebuilding civilization in a third-person action game packed with sweet guns, fast cars, hand-to-hand combat, and copious amounts of zombie gore. Players choose where to make their stand, designing and fortifying their settlements, performing daring raids for valuable stores of food and ammunition, and rescuing other playable survivors. The open world develops in real-time, shaped by player actions, with content determined by their choices and the ever-increasing zombie threat.

Undead Labs founder Jeff Strain has also posted a "Rude Q&A" to address some of the many questions about the company's two titles and a host of other stirring questions. Undead Labs is still developing the zombie console MMOG, which they are now referring to as an “online world game” to avoid some of the expectations associated with the MMOG label. But the “online world game” is still in development under the codename Class4 and Class3 will help in the development of its underlying gameplay.

‘Class3′ is the codename for the ambitious zombie-survival open world game currently under development at Undead Labs for release as an Xbox LIVE Arcade title. ‘Class4′ is the codename for the subsequent zombie-survival online world game that we will develop by building on the Class3 platform. In other words, Class3 runs on your Xbox 360 and supports 1-2 players via Xbox LIVE or on the same screen, while Class4 will provide a much larger server-hosted world for thousands of simultaneous players.
