AoC Game Director Talks Dreamworld Engine and Communication

Posted Wed, Mar 23, 2011 by Martuk

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures game Director Craig 'Sillirion' Morrison recently took some time to speak with Italian fansite MMORPGITALIA about the recent Dreamworld integration and continuing work to fine-tune PvP combat. The recent Dreamworld updates have added a higher quality of graphics to the game and presumably made the lives of a few developers a lot easier. Morrison took some time to discuss how the changes affect the game and

The game has always been aimed at the high end of performance, and much of our fan base falls into that category. However, much of the most valuable work with the update revolved around memory handling and performance for more mid range and lower systems. This means the game is now playable, at a higher level of quality, on a greater range of machines, both in DX9 and DX10 modes.

But Morrison also addressed his views on communicating with the community in an open way. While many would disagree with his approach, Morrison thinks a direct and more honest approach is best rather than side-stepping certain issues.
