If you're like many of us around the Ten Ton Hammer bunker, you've probably been itching to find out when Blizzard might officially kick off the beta testing for that long overdue sequel, Diablo III. If so, we have some good news for you today. According to a report from Siliconera, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime revealed during a first quarter 2011 earnings call today that internal beta testing for Diablo III kicked off last week and external testing is set to begin during the third quarter of 2011.

Blizzard hopes to launch the title sometime later this year, but that will of course depend on how well the testing goes, so no official release date has been given as of yet.

Thanks to Ralsu for the tip.
