Blizzard Reveals Diablo III's Runestone System

Posted Thu, May 26, 2011 by Martuk

Character customization is a key feature of Diablo III and runestones will play a huge part in the process by allowing you to augment skills to make your character even deadlier. Blizzard has revealed new details about the Runestone system for Diablo III and how each color and rank differ. Included in the latest release are several videos that show how runestones can augment specific skills to give them deadlier abilities.

There are five runestone types: Crimson, Indigo, Obsidian, Golden, and Alabaster. Check out the official Diablo III website for a look at how each one can enhance a character's skills.

The official page you link to also mentions that "a player can choose to access up to seven...skills at any one time." That was news to me. Interesting. I have to think on that.
