Welcome to the 9th Edition of Reloading…

“I don’t really think.  I just walk.”  – Paris Hilton

If you are anything like me, watching gold sellers, scammers and ne’er-do-wells take over the Trade Chat channel in World of Warcraft is a bitter-sweet event.   On one hand, it livens things up as part of the population runs in circles screaming and carrying-on like little girls with bats in their hair, yet on the other hand, it is much like a mosquito bite.  You know if you ignore it, don’t acknowledge its existence that it will go away faster and cause less aggravation.   The problem is that it itches and you feel obligated to scratch, because it feels soooo much better to scratch.

I have never really had an issue making gold in WoW.  I have a few level 85s, most with different professions that in a very obsessive and compulsive way I trudge to the Auction House every day to sell, buy and well, make gold.   I can easily make 2,000, 3,000 or even 5,000 gold in a day if I am somehow in need, or more likely my son wants to buy some piece of gear and doesn’t have the gold himself.

For those of you always finding yourself short on cash in WoW, here is a sure-fire, guaranteed way to make money.   Without professions you won’t make the money that I do, but given a month, you will be raking in a few hundred gold a day and be a better player for it.

How to Make Gold in World of Warcraft

  1. Create an “Auction House Alt” Character
    1.  If you are Alliance, create a Human
    2. If you are Horde, create an Orc.
  2. Run your character to either Stormwind or Orgrimmar.  I think you can figure out which one makes sense for you. ;)
  3. Bilbo Baggins -  Buy the largest bags that you can afford and outfit your alt with them.
  4.  Get three addons
    1.  Auctionator – By far the best auction house tool you can find for posting and buying on the AH.
    2. Postal – When you are listing 100s of items it’s great to have an automated postal system.
    3. Market Watcher – Nifty tool to tell you what is under and over market price.
    4. Some players like Auctioneer.  I don’t.  I find the interface a mess, but your mileage may vary.
  5. Go to the AH, click on the auctioneer and then click on the “History” tab.
    1. This is where you will add the items you want to track.
    2. Now, click on the “Add” button.   You can enter the items that you wish to track.  Track as many or as few as you wish.  Here are a few that I keep my eye on. They are tradeskill necessities that are heavily traded.  For each item click on the “Record Scans” box to ensure you are tracking their price variations.
      1. Savage Leather
      2. Pristine Hide
      3. Heavy Savage Leather
      4. Truegold
      5. Hypnotic Dust
      6.  Volatile Fire, Water, Air, Life
      7. Heavenly Shard
      8. Small Heavenly Shard
      9. Maelstrom Crystal
      10. Embersilk
      11. Twilight Jasmine
      12. Azshara’s Veil
  6. Click on the Scan tab and scan away.
  7. Keep adding items and scanning (2-3 times per day if possible) for at least one week.
  8. You can now use those handy History and Scan tabs to see what items are trading for
    1. Buy items that are trading well below their normal average value.
    2. Sell items that are trading well above their normal average value.
  9.  Don’t expect to get rich overnight, but if you follow these steps, keep tracking more items and scan over a long period of time you will find that you are constantly buying underpriced items and will always have hundreds of items up for sale that are reaping you a huge profit.   I would estimate that I average 1,000 gold per day using this method and only tracking about 75 items.   If you track 200, 500 or more then you can see where this would take you.
  10. IMPORTANT:  Be patient.   You may not be able to sell those cheap Maelstrom crystals that you purchased for a week or two, or more… hold on to them and sell them when the time is right.   Likewise, don’t rush in to buying something just because it is 10% below market value.   I never buy anything that isn’t at least 33% below market value.   I prefer to buy at 50% or more below and sell at 50% or more above.

Good luck and enjoy your new wealth!

PlayerScore 4.8.00 Released

Sync WoW player ratings with your guild!

This version introduces the ability to share your ratings of other players with your guild mates. The ratings with your guild may be out of sync with our global server ratings, because not everyone in your guild will use the PlayerScore updater to update their ratings to our servers. However, this is still a useful feature to determine how your guild feels about a player.

That, plus several bug fixes and the groundwork for our upcoming database browser can be found in our latest build!
