Rift Update 1.7 Preview - Calling Purposes: Premade Talent Templates

Updated Fri, Jan 27, 2012 by Medawky

Update 1.7 has a wide range of additions, tweaks, modifications, a new Chronicle and a new World Event. But one of the coolest new features being added for new or returning players is the addition of a tool to help them navigate through their callings various souls. Dubbed as Calling Purposes, this system is an automated tool that allows you to allot all of your soul points into one of four provided templates with a single click of a button. There is also a review button that highlights the recommend talent and abilities for that build, allowing you to decide beforehand if this is path you want to commit to. The system also gives you a quick overview of the purpose, its key abilities, a how to play primer and a selection of tips. Calling Purposes are not restricted to level 50 or high level players and can only be used in a calling where no points have already been spent.

There will be those that decry this new feature as promoting cookie-cutter builds or being unnecessary handholding. While there may be some merit to their argument, I would caution them to remember that this is simply a tool and it could be very useful for newer players and for those that have stuck to one role their entire Rift career and are looking for guidance on how to branch out.

Check out each of the 4 templates for all 4 callings below, and watch the video at the bottom to see it in action!
