Rift Guild Perks Guide

Posted Tue, Aug 16, 2011 by Medawky

One of the most important vehicles for social interaction in MMOGs is found in the form of the guild. Guilds are as varied as the players that inhabit them, and no two players will have the exact same expectations from a guild, but long gone are the days of guilds being a passive entity. While the idea of allowing guilds to level up and progress with their members is a relatively new one, it has spread through the gaming community like wildfire and Rift is one of the new breeds of MMOG that has embraced it.

In Rift, guilds level up by earning experience points, similar to the way that players do. As levels are gained points are earned, these points can then be spent on various upgrades known as perks. The only way to earn guild experience is through various quests that high ranking guild officials can accept on behalf of the members.

Perks are divided into two categories; active and passive. Active perks can require a reagent to use and most have a cooldown timer. Passive perks are constant additions that help improve various aspects of gameplay for members.
