Wardens, being the only real “pet class” in Runes of Magic, have a distinct advantage over their counter parts as they can add extra damage with their pet or stay the enemy for a short period of time. It is important to point out this appears to be a VERY short time as the health pool of the pet is very small (perhaps some sunscreen would help?) As you level some of your skills, both regular and elite, are pet only skills. This information is very useful since I know of one player who was spamming a skill trying to figure out why it would not work. Okay it was me, happy?
Wardens are unique in both lore and game play to all of the other classes. They are set apart in lore as the great defenders of the Elven race. Because of this it sets them up for a one of a kind game play that allows them to wield more weapons than anybody else in the game giving them versatility in customization that is lacking with some classes.
While the Warden class can dish out
fair helpings of face melting fun you can also find yourself as a
secondary healer. Rarely or really if your group is desperate
will you ever find yourself as the primary healer but I guess anything
can happen right?
| Class Combo | What it does | TTH Score |
| Warden/Druid | A damage dealing de-curse combo. Interesting enough that it seems when you put these two together you can be dealing out decent damage and helping to keep your party unpoisoned and the baddy from doing too much damage. I think if done right this could be a good combo to have along in a party if done correctly. However that is a lot of things to keep track of. | 6.5 |
| Warden/Mage | Since the mage is best at damage and the Warden is really good too this has the potential to be a very high damage dealing class. Add to that the pet and I see a win win scenario. The only drawback that might exist here is both classes rely on a mana pool. | 8.5 |
| Warden/Rogue | Snare and damage is the name of the game with this mix. Use the natural abilities of the Rogue to slow or stop your enemy then add the damage power of the Warden plus the extra you get from the Rogue as a secondary and well dead baddies are all that is left! | 8 |
| Warden/Scout | So the damage of a pet class plus the damage of a ranged class equals? Lots of face wrecking is what you get. Then add a buff to your pets damage and OMG mayhem will ensue. | 8 |
| Warden/Warrior | The think about a Warden is they are very flexible. They can do good range damage and they can also do decent melee damage. Add the second ability to a Warrior and you can become one serious melee wrecking ball. Perhaps not the best overall choice for ultimate destruction but good if you are a melee fan | 7.5 |
| Warden/Knight | This class is unavailable due to the Knight not being able to be played by the Elven race | -- |
| Warden/Priest | This class is unavailable due to the Priest not being able to be played by the Elven race | -- |

Disappointment… I could just stop there. There is so much that could be done with the dual class options of the druid that seem to be lacking to me. Now granted I am not a hardcore Druid player but where is the pet? I know the druid is the only “pet” class available in Runes but there should be a way to enhance the pet just a little bit. The official forums are alive with how many ways your pet is NOT used in end game content. WHAT? The Druid looks to have some interesting options and could only be made more interesting by giving the pet a purpose if you ask me. So play the Druid if you like but, from what I can tell you should be prepared to not use your pet much past the mid game experience for more than just a novelty.
