If EverQuest Next: Landmark and Minecraft had a lovechild Trion’s latest project would likely be the result. Trion Worlds has been teasing the Trove project over Twitter this week but keeping the details pretty vague while doing so. But today Trion opened up with more information about what exactly it is that they’ve been working on.

Trove is an open-ended voxel adventure with noticeably retro graphics that allows players to explore both hand-crafted content and randomly generated zones for quests, loot, and to fight enemies. Trion is also giving players the chance to make their mark in the world by creating new weapons and creatures or by building and customizing their own trans-dimensional home, which persists across all worlds and servers.

For the more adventurous types, Trove dungeons are procedurally generated to help keep them fresh and provide new experiences each time players make a run at it. So what was a cake walk before may end up being completely different with a few extra surprises the second time through.

Trion is kicking off the alpha early and and want to bring players along for collaborative development. You can sign up now on the Trove website. Check out the trailer below for a peek at what Trion’s been up to.
