Ultima Online players on Atlantic server received that certain kind of news this week that no MMO player wants to hear – the servers have been rolled back. Unfortunately, it's not just a small rollback of an hour or so like often happens with these sort of things, but a rollback to December 5th. Ouch! This reaction may be completely appropriate in this case.

A post to the Ultima Online website explains that servers had to revert to the December 5th backup following corruption issues and an inability to recover an earlier save. On the bright side, players will get some compensation for the nearly two-week rollback with 30-days of free game time.

Due to issues beyond our control, I am sorry to have to inform all of Atlantic that we had to revert to a Dec 5, 2012 7:00 am EST back up. We have tried to retrieve a more current back up but we have been unable to do so due to corruption issues. We are very sorry this has happened and any Atlantic player that is being impacted by this revert will be compensated with 30 days free game time. If you are having any issues with Vet Rewards or In game codes please page a GM. They will be able to assist you with this matter but please provide what vet reward/code was claimed and by what character to help us confirm your request faster.

Needless to say, there are quite a few upset players at the moment, some that claim to have lost years worth of work from transferring over to the server within the window. With any luck those folks can retrieve a previous save from their old server at least.
