SOE Reveals Free-to-Play Details for Vanguard

Posted Tue, Jul 10, 2012 by Martuk

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes has already received several new development team members, even some from the past, as the MMORPG continues its march towards free-to-play. SOE recently revealed more details about the free-to-play model that Vanguard will be adopting along with an account matrix and FAQ to address a few questions about the limitations of free accounts and the benefits of being a Gold subscriber. In addition, former players will also benefit from extra character slots and the use of their previous characters.

As a special thank you to players who have ever had a subscription to Vanguard, characters created before the Free-to-Play conversion will all be available regardless of your membership type. In addition, these players will have 12 character slots available on their account regardless of their membership type.

While a solid date for Vanguard's free-to-play conversion has not been announced as of yet, the latest Producer’s Letter does indicate that SOE is planning to make the jump sometime this summer.

We are planning our free-to-play transition this summer and as much as we’d love to share a specific date with all of you, we want to make sure we take the appropriate time to test and do this right so that way we’re ultimately delivering the best possible experience to our players.
