"Hero Camp" Hands-On Preview

A first look at the "minion L" control interface and an endgame instance, plus a new take on character creation!

July 5th, 2007 - We've shown you how great Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising looks, but haven't had a chance to show you how it plays since our March 2007 hands-on at Game Developers Conference. A number of improvements have come down the pike since then, chief among them a whole new way to control your minions!

These user interface improvements, plus a quick look at the beauty of character creation in Gods & Heroes, are the warm-ups for the focal point of the "Hero Camp" event - a first look at an "elder game" level cap (level 40) 5-man instance- Horror Terrestris- with Stieg Hedlund! We ran a portion of the instance afterward, and I fell in combat next to my groupmates battling Chalchon, Telchine goddess of nightmares. Yes indeed, Chalchon took me away!
