Ten Ton Hammer Video of the Day

Averting a crisis, the Todd Harris way.

Say what you will about Hi-Rez Studios, but don’t say that they don't have a sense of humor. The charismatic Hi-Rez boss Todd Harris and a few other members of the team chip in on what makes up today’s video feature that has some fun with a couple of topics that kicked up a bit of a hornet's nest in the industry over the last month.

In the first of a new SMITE video series dubbed “Minion Has Spawned,” Harris, who may be one of the more comedic men in the industry, is joined by a number of other Hi-Rez staffers to poke fun at a number of recent controversial industry topics such as the wave of YouTube content ID claim issues and the League of Legends LCS contract debacle, which previously forbid contracted LCS players from streaming certain games until Riot later amended their stance. While the list of Riot’s blacklisted games included some of the competition such as virtually all of Blizzard's titles, SMITE, DotA 2, and others, one of a few oddities on the no-stream list was Fat Princes, which Hi-Rez has their own take as to why this one was on the list as you can see below.

On a more serious note, Hi-Rez offered their own response to YouTube’s wave of content ID claims earlier this month, echoing a growing number of developers and publishers by encouraging players to both make and monetize videos using their gameplay footage.
