Lord British talks about the past and future of RPGs.
Richard Garriott takes a trip down memory lane with Noah ÂSpoonyÂ Antwiler of The Spoony Experiment this week to honor one of the Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues stretch goal. The first part of the interview features an extensive discussion about GarriottÂs work on the Ultima series, his thoughts on boss battles, and thoughts on what ever happened to those darn bobbits and fuzzies. Garriott also discussed his retro style RPG design for Shroud of the Avatar, and how it will make a return to some old school styles of play, requiring players to remember some details and physically type out text for quest dialogue.
As the video nears its end, the topic shifts to evil, bosses, bad guys, and how often players, even when doing evil deeds, arenÂt seen as the villains in their own stories. This segues into a joke/sharp jab at EA and an incident involving Ultima VIIIÂs deadline and mismatched cloth map along with a cameo from Angry Joe as Corporate Commander.
