Hunter Pets in WoW Cataclysm: A Walk on the Wild Side

Cataclysm will bring big changes to all classes, however, Hunters are the one class where the changes the expansion will bring are clearly evident. In fact Hunters in Cataclysm are hardly recognizable compared to the Hunters of today. So it’s not surprising to find out that one of the changes Hunters will see is the ability to tame several completely new pets and several old pets with brand new looks. Get a peak at the pets available to Hunters in Cataclysm below:

New Tameable Pets

Monkeys

*Monkeys can use the Pummel, Smack, Cower, and Growl abilities once tamed.

NAME	LEVEL	LOCATION
Vale Howler	26-28	Found anywhere in Northern Stranglethorn these little monkeys change their colors so your new pet will never get boring.
Skymane Bonobo	32-34	Located on Jaguero Isle in the Cape of Stranglethorn these monkeys resemble the Vale Howlers but do not change color. Can use the Pummel, Smack, Cower, and Growl abilities.

Foxes

*Foxes can use the Prowl, Bite, Cower, and Growl abilities once tamed.

Hill Fox	15-16	Can be found in Loch Modan and are most common north of Farstrider Lodge.
Whitetail Fox	36-37	This sly fox can be found between Felstone Field and Dalson’s Farm in the Western Plaguelands.

Forest Stalker	18-19	Forest Stalkers can be found in the northeastern portion of the Redridge Mountains.

NAME	LEVEL	LOCATION
Redridge Fox	15-16	This fox can be found south of Lake Everstill in the Redridge Mountains.
Rapid Fox	36-37	This type of fox can be found south west of the Northridge Lumber Camp in Western Plaguelands.

New Skins

It’s obvious that Cataclysm will be introducing a plethora of new pets for Hunters to tame at their leisure. However, to make things even more exciting Blizzard has also allowed the taming of animals that were once previously untamable, opening up several new looks for several already in game pets, allowing Hunters who prefer more classic pets to spice up their stables.

Crabs

*Once tamed Crabs can use the Bite, Bad Attitude, Cower, and Growl abilities.

Felscale Crawler	58	This pet is commonly found on the beach area of the Red Reaches in the southern portion of the Blasted Lands.

Crocolisks

*Crocolisks can use the Bite, Bad Attitude, Cower, and Growl abilities.

NAME	LEVEL	LOCATION
Marsh Crocolisk	18-20	These fierce reptiles can be found in south Silverpine Forest near the Forsaken Front, in the swampy area near the Greymane Wall.

Dogs

*Dogs can use the Bite, Furious Howl, Cower, and Growl abilities.

NAME	LEVEL	LOCATION
Bullmastiff (Horde Only)	35-36	Can be found in the woods near the entrance to Andorhal. Be wary as these dogs are always accompanied by Alliance Fox Hunters.
Wary Mastiff (Alliance Only)	10	This dog can be found in and around Stormglen Village in Gilneas.

NAME	LEVEL	LOCATION
Scarlet Tracking Hound	32	This dog used to be a red hyena, however it is now a red Mastiff model. Can be found in the Library wing of the Scarlet Monastery.

Birds

*Once tamed Birds can use the Bite, Demoralizing Screech, Cower, and Growl abilities.

Golden Eagle	16-17	These birds can be found flying in south eastern Loch Modan and are very common near Farstrider Lodge.

Loch Buzzard	13-14	These carrion Birds can be found in the southern portion of the partially dried up Loch in Loch Modan

NAME	LEVEL	LOCATION
Bonepicker Felfeeder	55	Can be found all over the skies of the Blasted Lands.

Emerald Spirit	35-36	These birds are semi-transparent and can be found in the newly discovered Ruins of Eldre’thar in southern Stonetalon Mountains.

Scorpids

*Once tamed Scorpids can use the Claw, Scorpid Poison, Cower, and Growl abilities.

Duneclaw Broodlord	47-48	These scorpids can be found wandering the desert sands in the southern portion of Tanaris.

Spiders

*Spiders can use the Bite, Web, Cower, and Growl abilities.

Tainted Nightstalker	57	These creepy crawlies can be found in the Blasted Lands near the center of the Tainted Scar.

Skitterweb Lurker	11-12	These scary looking spiders make their home in and around the Skittering Dark, a small cave area in Silverpine Forest.

NAME	LEVEL	LOCATION
Skitterweb Striker	11-12	These spiders make their home along side the Skitterweb Lurkers in and around the Skittering Dark in Silverpine Forest.

Wasps

*Wasps can use the Sting, Smack, Cower, and Growl abilities.

Sapphire Hive Queen	78	This flying beauty can be found deep inside the Sapphire Hive in southern Sholozar Basin.

Please keep in mind that all this information was taken from the beta server and as such it can and probably will change before the expansion is released. This could mean some of the pets listed above will no longer be tamable, will take on a different look, or more pets will be made available for your taming pleasure.
