Last week we looked at the top 5 reasons to join the Alliance but we haven’t forgotten the proud members of the Horde. The war between the two has hit full steam and taken the entirety of Azeroth by storm. It’s now more important than ever for them to bolster their forces to lead the charge against the Alliance aggressors. Do you have what it takes to fly the banner of the Horde?

Superior Races

While the Alliance wins visually the Horde wins with might, brawn, and overall good racials. Statistically speaking, you’ll often come out ahead with the Horde when it comes to abilities. Taurens make the best tanks in the game while Goblins have a wide variety of tools built directly into their character. Orcs are a power house and Blood Elves have an AoE interrupt that make them all-stars in PvP. Trolls get a haste cooldown built in and the Undead get a free trinket cooldown.

Of course, if you like that wild look, the Horde has a little bit of everything. They’ve gotten rotten corpses, beastly beasts, dastardly evil looks, and even something pretty (Blood Elves) for those who don’t want to look evil and menacing. So there is a lot of variety and a lot of awesome looks there.

Then you’ve got the lore. Orcs have some of the most fleshed out lore in the game beside Humans and have some of the most touching storylines in the game. The Forsaken have some of the most morally bankrupt quest lines out there. The Trolls have been fleshed out by a large amount as the game has progressed. The only one lacking is the Blood Elves, but they had an entire expansion dedicated to their mistakes.

The Horde is Evil

When it comes to the eternal struggle between Lex Luthor and Superman, who do you to cheer for? Think the villain is sometimes the good guy? Got a thing for wearing all block and laughing manically for hours on end? Then the Horde is for you.

While not comprised of an entirely evil force, the Horde has been increasing its evil quotient the last few years. They’ve used massive weapons against civilians, begun a campaign of biological warfare, and let’s not forget the extensive amount of prisoners and human test subjects that the Forsaken have. Even before Cataclysm, it was the Forsaken who developed the plague that leveled all of the troops at the Wrath Gate.

The only non-evil that exists is the Tauren and the Blood Elves, so even if you’re not into all of the evilness there is an alternative option. So you’re not locked into thinking you’re a mass murderer as you wander around the city.

Crazy Racial Leaders

The Alliance leaders have very little lore fleshed out about them while the Horde has Thrall who gets an entire expansion quest line dedicated to him, Garrosh who has had a touching story throughout the entire game, Sylvanas who was in Warcraft III and has had a central part in the entire story, Cairne who while dead had his entire story fleshed out, Vol’Jin who has had a lot of exposure in the various patches, and finally the only one left out: Reagent Lord Someone with the Blood Elves. Yes, I can’t even think of his name right now (Loth'remar).

If you need a reason to follow anyone the Horde is full of them. Just take Garrosh for instance. He started off as this lonely little orc who gave out quests in Nagrand and now he’s running around causing war across all of Azeroth. If that doesn’t make you scream “BLOOD AND THUNDER” then I’m not very sure what will.

You can’t forget Thrall of course, the man behind much of everything in WoW. You can’t look at a single event and not expect Thrall’s name to show up somewhere. The only thing he wasn’t honestly involved in was the Lich King’s death and to that extent he was probably off trying to keep the elements from overrunning Azeroth.

PvP Dominance

I don’t like to talk about one faction having better players than the other because I believe that everyone is Human and there are good and bad people on both sides. Yet, when it comes to the Horde, we can understand why there is a huge PvP focus. That’s because anyone interested in PvP has migrated to the Horde because of their racial abilities. This makes forming an arena team or just running battlegrounds much easier for the Horde.

The Horde has huge numbers on PvP servers and, while still not the dominate faction, have huge strongholds on most of the PvP servers. This means a lot if you’re into fighting it out on the battlefield. “Grab a sword and fight the Horde” those alliance dogs scream but when it comes to the real fight the Horde is superior in many ways.

Expect, however, longer queue times on the Horde side of things. Superiority comes at a great price and that’s way more numbers to duel it out in the BGs. That’s not a bad thing, considering the numbers exist for meaningful world PvP in areas like Winterspring and Tol Barad.

So if you love to shed the blood of your enemies the Horde is for you.

Rustic Décor

Yes, I went so far as to say that the Horde has some pretty run down architecture during the first two expansions but with Cataclysm they’ve got a whole new redesign. While Stormwind is burning to the ground the Horde has rebuilt Orgrimmar. Not only that, but all of their new cities look wicked sick with the heavy focus on metal and iron.

That is a huge change if you think about things, since the Alliance was given a lot of attention and “pretty” details in their cities while the Horde sat within huts and sat on stumps. Now throughout Azeroth you can find amazing Horde structures while the Alliance scrambles to rebuild what they lost in the Cataclysm.

Take a look at Twilight Highlands. The Horde gets a massive fortress while the Alliance town is burnt to a crisp, BY THE HORDE! Not only that, but the Horde gets Garona Halforcen to lead them around and help out. Pretty cool if you ask me.

So there you have it, my top 5 reasons for you to grab a sword and join the Horde. Are you a proud member of the Horde or do you think the Alliance is way cooler? Come share your thoughts in the comments section below.
